Do you work with clients on-line, in-person, or both?
We offer both on-line coaching and in-person coaching for clients who are based out of the Rio Grande Valley area in South Texas. With on-line coaching, we connect with you and your group through telephone, e-mail, snail mail, and/or video chat. To request in-person coaching for your group, please fill out our form here and request a proposal for the coaching package you are interested in.
What is the standard coaching process like?
Once a coaching engagement has been initiated, the process begins with getting your group started with on-line administration of what is widely considered the gold standard of leadership development, The Leadership Practices Inventory® (LPI®). The LPI® serves as the foundation of our coaching process and we use the data it generates to help raise the leadership capacity of your entire group, both individually and collectively. Once the LPI® results are generated for each group member, each person will receive an individual feedback report, a group feedback report, and a set of support material to help everyone grow in their leadership development.
Once these materials have been delivered to your group by snail mail and/or e-mail, we will proceed to schedule an intensive coaching session for each group member, which will be conducted either on the phone, in-person, and/or video chat. If video chat is available, it comes as a highly recommended option for our on-line coaching clients since it can help enrich your overall experience, without any extra cost. Please note that we do not use video chat to conduct a session in typical face-to-face fashion, so no need to worry about having a working webcam; instead, we only use video chat in order to screen share, which allows us to share our computer screen with you in real-time and guide you every step of the way during a coaching session.
During a typical coaching session, each group member can expect the following support:
• Proper interpretation and explanation of their individual LPI® report
• Identification of patterns and messages within their LPI® data
• Clarification regarding their use of exemplary leadership behaviors
• Assistance with focusing their development efforts, both individually and collectively
• Support in helping them translate their goals into actions (action-planning)
• Guidance on how they can better align their LPI® behaviors with group and/or organizational goals
The exact nature of a coaching session, as well as any additional activities, is dependent on which one of our packages your group signs up for. With our more elaborate packages, you will find increasing levels of support that can maximize the results of your group for up to half a year or longer. What kind of support material comes with each of your coaching packages?
All our coaching packages include a range of support material, depending on which package your group has signed up for. To see which items are included with a particular package, we encourage you to look at each of the itemized breakdowns that are on our group coaching page.
Please note that if your group is combining a coaching package with The Leadership Challenge® Workshop, you will only receive a single copy of any items that are shared between the two offerings; the material will be shared either at the workshop or during a coaching engagement, according to whichever takes place first. With on-line coaching, we ship our materials to clients in the contiguous (or the “lower 48”) United States as part of our packages. Any on-line clients who are outside this area will have additional shipping fees included with their quote for group coaching.
What is the development plan that is included in your different coaching packages?
With each of our coaching packages, we work with each one of your group members to create a robust plan for improvement, based on the feedback that is obtained from their LPI® results, as well as that of the group. This plan will help each group member identify areas for improvement, set specific goals, and then take deliberate action towards achieving those goals. When this development plan is put into practice, each group member will be able to:
• Improve their use of exemplary leadership behaviors
• Integrate the best leadership practices into their daily routine
• Make steady progress in developing their leadership capacity
• Consciously review their progress toward becoming a better leader
• Learn about development activities that can focus their efforts
• Hold themselves accountable for making future progress
• Follow an easy-to-use process that can be repeated
• Discover their full leadership potential
While a development plan is included with each of our coaching packages, our advanced and premium coaching options offer an increased level of support for each group member by providing them with a customized plan that takes their unique workplace situation into account. This enhanced level of support is made possible by a discovery meeting that is included in both our advanced and premium coaching packages.
What is the discovery meeting that is included in some of your coaching packages?
The discovery meeting included in both our advanced and premium coaching packages helps maximize the impact and value of a leadership initiative by kicking off the coaching engagement in the best way possible. This meeting, which is very relaxed and conversational in nature, can range from anywhere between 60 and 180 minutes in length. During a discovery meeting, we get in contact with a group representative and have an in-depth conversation regarding the group’s current situation, what desired outcomes are sought, and make plans on how to best serve the short and long-term interests of the group, according to specific, measurable goals. This information allows us to customize the LPI® assessment for the group and generate a greater degree of feedback than is possible with the standard approach. With a customized LPI® report, we adapt the LPI® to fit the needs of your group by capturing additional (and incredibly valuable) information that would otherwise be lost, and are able to further complement the growth of each group member with a personalized development plan that is made with their unique circumstances in mind. We have found that this targeted approach often leads to incredible breakthroughs that are immensely useful and highly transformative for clients.
What is the personalized development plan that you have for groups in some of your coaching packages?
With our advanced and premium coaching packages, we provide a personalized development plan that is created specifically for your group, team, and/or organization. We do this by first generating a customized LPI® Group Report (see sample here), which takes the individual data from each group member and compiles it into a collective report. The group report becomes incredibly more useful when it is customized since it not only provides an assessment of how frequently the group demonstrates exemplary leadership behaviors, but it also collects feedback that directly pertains to how a group is performing with respect to either team and/or organization-wide initiatives. With this data in-hand, we review the strengths and areas for improvement of a given group and proceed to create a custom development plan that helps accelerate both group effectiveness and performance.
What are the LPI® Values Cards that are included in the premium coaching package?
The values cards give your group members the opportunity to gain greater clarity on their personal values and determine whether they are in alignment with other group members and/or your organization. Values clarification is an essential component of leadership development because it will compromise your ability to lead if you don’t fully comprehend (or act on) the values, beliefs, principles, standards, ethics, and ideals that drive you. The values cards are not only a great way for you and your group to avoid issues in this area, but they can also be used to establish a set of shared values among your group members, which is key to maximizing group performance.
What are the LPI® Action Cards that are included in the premium coaching package?
The action cards help your group members take targeted action towards reinforcing specific LPI® behaviors and, in doing so, become more effective leaders. By having these cards readily on-hand, your group members will be equipped with the guidance they need to continually practice the skills and behaviors that are required for ongoing leadership development. Since the action cards are so easy to carry around, they have even been referred to as an “insurance policy for leadership development,” as they can quickly be referenced any time your group members are faced with a leadership dilemma. With how hectic the work day can be, having the action cards within arm’s reach is a great way for your group members to maintain focus and keep working towards their personal best as a leader.
What are the workplace action items that are included in the premium coaching package?
To help your group members put learning into action, our premium coaching package includes additional items that will help your group practice exemplary leadership at the workplace. These items highlight specific LPI® behaviors and are a convenient, yet powerful way for group members to integrate The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership® into their day-to-day routine. Further details on what your group can expect with these items, as well as how to use them most effectively, will be shared towards the beginning of the coaching process, that way your group members will be ready to put them to use as soon as possible.
Is it possible for a group to start with a certain coaching package and then upgrade to another one later?
Absolutely! If your group signs up for a coaching package and a decision is later made for the group to proceed with a deeper experience, just please let us know within a 12-month time frame and we will be absolutely thrilled to serve you in a larger capacity. Once we are aware of which package you would like your group to upgrade to, we will provide you with a special invoice that deducts the full amount of the original coaching investment, that way you (or your organization) are only responsible for the difference. With this method in place, we strive to make it as convenient as possible for any group to upgrade their coaching package from standard to advanced, advanced to premium, or even from standard to premium, depending on how much additional support is desired.
Do you offer any type of individual coaching packages that would enable me to grow on my own?

Please note that our individual coaching is designed to accommodate social distancing and, just like with our group coaching, can be conducted in an entirely remote fashion via telephone and/or video chat.
