Do you work with clients on-line, in-person, or both?
We offer both online coaching and, for an additional fee, in-person coaching for clients who are based out of the Rio Grande Valley area in South Texas. With online coaching, we connect with you through telephone, e-mail, snail mail, and/or Skype. If you prefer in-person coaching, please send us a message indicating which coaching package you are interested in, and we will follow-up with further information regarding pricing, coach availability, appointment location, etc.
What is the standard coaching process like?
Once a coaching engagement has been initiated, the process begins with getting you started with online administration of what is widely considered the gold standard of leadership development, The Leadership Practices Inventory® (LPI®). The LPI® serves as the foundation of our coaching process and we use the data it generates to help develop you into becoming a better leader. Once we have calculated your LPI® results, you will then be provided with a customized feedback report, along with a set of support material to help facilitate your growth as a leader.
Once these materials have been delivered to you by snail mail and/or e-mail, we will proceed to schedule an intensive coaching session with you, which will be conducted either on the phone, inperson, and/or Skype, depending on what method you prefer. Although Skype is optional, it is a highly recommended option for our online coaching clients since it can help enrich your overall experience, without any extra cost. Please note that we do not use Skype to video chat, so no need to worry about having a working webcam; instead, we only use Skype for its screen-sharing feature, which allows us to share our computer screen with you in real-time and guide you every step of the way during a coaching session.
During a typical coaching session, you can expect the following support from your coach:
• Proper interpretation and explanation of your LPI® report
• Identification of patterns and messages within your LPI® data
• Clarification regarding your use of exemplary leadership behaviors
• Assistance with focusing your developmental efforts (to achieve your ideal self)
• Support in helping you translate your goals into actions (action-planning)
• Overall guidance in how to become the best leader you can be
The length of a coaching session, as well as any additional activities, is dependent on which one of our coaching packages you sign up for. With our more elaborate packages, you will find increasing levels of support that are much more involved and can help you on your leadership journey for up to half a year or longer. What kind of support material comes with each of your coaching packages?
All our coaching packages include a base set of support material, which includes a workbook, summary article, reminder card, and the latest edition of the international best-seller, The Leadership Challenge®. Please note that if you are combining a coaching package with The Leadership Challenge® Workshop, you will only receive a single copy of any items that are shared between the two offerings; the material will be shared either at the workshop or during a coaching engagement, according to whichever takes place first. With online coaching, we ship our materials to clients in the contiguous (or the “lower 48”) United States as part of our packages. Any online clients who are outside this area may choose to receive a digital set of materials via e-mail, where available, or have the material shipped at an additional fee, which will be determined by the shipping location, as well as any import, duty, and/or port handling fees, where applicable.
What is the discovery meeting that is included in some of your coaching packages?
The discovery meeting included in both our advanced and premium coaching packages helps you maximize your leadership development by kicking off the coaching process in the best way possible. This meeting, which is very relaxed and conversational in nature, can range from anywhere between 30 and 90 minutes in length. During a discovery meeting, we are able to have an in-depth conversation about what your current situation is, what desired outcomes you seek, and make plans for specific, measurable goals. This information allows us to customize your LPI® assessment and provide you with a greater degree of feedback than is possible with the standard approach. With a customized LPI® report, we adapt the LPI® to fit your needs by capturing additional (and incredibly valuable) information that would otherwise be lost. We have found that this targeted approach often leads to game-changing feedback that is both highly practical and immensely useful for clients. Not only does the discovery meeting lay the foundation for the customized LPI® report, but it also helps in the creation of a personalized development plan.
What is the personalized development plan that is included in some of your coaching packages?
As part of our advanced and premium coaching packages, we will work with you to create a robust plan for improvement, based on the feedback that is obtained from your LPI® results. This personalized plan will help you identify your priorities for improvement, set specific goals, and then take deliberate action towards achieving those goals. As a result of the development plan, you will be able to:

• Integrate the best leadership practices into your daily routine
• Make steady progress in developing your leadership capacity
• Consciously review your progress toward becoming a better leader
• Learn about development activities that can focus your efforts

While a personalized development plan is not included in our basic coaching package, please note that we still provide you with the tools to self-coach and guide yourself through the development process.
What are the LPI® Values Cards that are included in some of your coaching packages?
The values cards that are included in both our advanced and premium coaching packages give you the opportunity to gain greater clarity on your personal values and determine whether they are in (or out of) alignment with your group, team, and/or organization. Values clarification is an essential component of leadership development because you will compromise your ability to lead if you don’t fully comprehend (or act on) the values, beliefs, principles, standards, ethics, and ideals that drive you. The values cards are a great tool to help you in this area and can also be repeatedly used for reflection or as an aide to help establish a set of shared values with those you work with.
What are the LPI® Action Cards that are included in some of your coaching packages?
The action cards that are included in both our advanced and premium coaching packages help you take targeted action towards reinforcing specific LPI® behaviors and, in doing so, become a more effective leader. By having these cards readily on-hand, you will be equipped with the guidance you need to continually practice the skills and behaviors that are required for ongoing leadership development. Since the action cards are so easy to carry with you, they have even been referred to as an “insurance policy for leadership development,” as you can quickly reference the cards any time you are faced with a leadership dilemma. With how hectic the work day can be, having the action cards within arm’s reach is a great way to maintain your focus and keep working towards your personal best as a leader.
What are the workplace action items that are included in some of your coaching packages?
To help put your learning into action, our advanced and premium coaching packages include additional items that will help you practice exemplary leadership at the workplace. These items highlight specific LPI® behaviors and help you become more comfortable with integrating The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership® into your day-to-day life. Further details on what you can expect with these items, as well as how to use them most effectively, will be shared towards the beginning of the coaching process, that way you will be ready to put them to use at your workplace as soon as possible.
What is the e-mail reinforcement that is included in some of your coaching packages?
Our advanced and premium coaching packages include an e-mail reinforcement program that is designed to support your growth as a leader for up to half a year or longer. With this program, you will receive a series of monthly e-mails that will strengthen your understanding (and use) of The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership®. The e-mails will contain digital resources to support your ongoing development and include suggested development activities, as well as recommendations for books, articles, websites, and blogs. This steady stream of resources will help you stay on track and keep your momentum towards achieving your leadership goals. Moreover, when combined with a personalized development plan, this virtual program will help you take targeted action towards unlocking your full potential as a leader.
What is the leadership loot box that is part of your premium coaching package?
The leadership loot box is a nine-month subscription of physical goods that are hand-picked just for you, based on your LPI® results and where you are at in your leadership journey. With the loot box, you will receive monthly packages that contain a variety of materials, such as workbooks, books, relevant articles, office items, company-branded products, and more! This carefully selected content will help support your overall leadership development by giving you the tools and encouragement you need to become a better leader. Please note that our premium coaching package includes monthly shipments to clients who are based in the contiguous (or “lower 48”) United States. Any clients who are outside this area will be responsible for covering the additional shipping costs of each package, including any import, duty, and/or port handling fees, where applicable.
